The A6 has won the International Design Excellence Award for 2012
The Audi A6 Sedan has won one of the most prestigious design awards in the United States, taking the International Design Excellence Award 2012 (IDEA) for its innovative design idiom. The A6 family also scooped another accolade this month with the red dot award.
The A6 Sedan managed to beat off international competition to receive the Silver Award in the ‘Transportation’ category of the International Design Excellence Award 2012. Audi Head of Design Wolfgang Egger is delighted that the model not only appeals to customers in Europe: “The award demonstrates that our design idiom is also understood and goes down well in the United States.” Apart from the model’s dynamic looks, the jury from the Industrial Designers Society of America also singled out the successful interplay of design idiom and innovative technology in the A6 Sedan. Egger explained: “To us, our brand claim ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ means that it is extremely important to perfectly match technology and design.”This year marked the 32nd anniversary of the IDEA awards in the United States. The jury is made up of 19 high-ranking experts from business, universities and design circles. In addition to the IDEA award, the Audi A6 family also won the red dot award. The A6 Sedan, the A6 Avant and the A6 allroad quattro impressed the international jury with their outstanding design quality. The Audi Design Team collected the coveted benchmark of quality during the red dot presentation ceremony in Essen on July 2.
