Pricing has been released for the updated 2013 Audi RS 5

Rs_5

The updated 2013 Audi RS 5, an Audi A5-based performance coupe, starts at $69,795, including an $895 destination charge, said Audi in its release of 2013 model year pricing.

The 2013 Audi RS 5 is more expensive than two of its chief competitors, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and the 2012 BMW M3 Coupe. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG starts at $64,935, including a $905 destination charge and a $1,700 gas-guzzler tax. The 2012 BMW M3 Coupe starts at $62,295, including an $895 destination charge and a $1,300 gas-guzzler tax. Audi's USA configurator does not show a gas-guzzler charge on the RS 5.

The RS 5 gets a high-tech all-wheel-drive system that features a crown-gear center differential, which Audi says can widely vary the distribution of torque between the front and rear axles. "If necessary, up to 70 percent can flow to the front or as much as 85 percent toward the tail end," said Audi in a statement.

The RS 5 is equipped with a 4.2-liter V8 engine that delivers 450 horsepower. The engine is linked to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. The car has a top speed of 174 mph. The EPA says the 2013 Audi RS 5 returns 16 mpg in city driving and 23 mpg on the highway.

Audi also announced that the 2013 Audi Allroad 2.0T quattro starts at $40,495, including an $895 destination charge.

The company said the 2013 Audi S8 4.0T quattro will start at $110,895, including shipping, when it debuts here in the fall.

The 2013 Audi S6 4.0T quattro will start at $72,795, including shipping, when it arrives in showrooms in the fall.

The 2013 Audi S7 4.0T quattro will start at $79,695, including shipping, when it arrives in showrooms in the fall.

Pricing was not announced on the 2013 Audi Q5 hybrid quattro, which is also due out in the fall.

Another 5-star review on DealerRater!

Dealer_rater

"We purchased a 2011 Avalon and had a great experience. Buying a used car, we had some questions about service/oil changes from previous owner. Chris went the extra mile and contacted the previous owner to get info on service records. They couldn't have been nicer or more helpful without being pushy and aggressive. All in all, a wonderful experience (from someone who hates car-shopping!)" - Customer

June was a great month for Audi!

Audi_logo

Audi sets all-time U.S. monthly sales record with 26% gain in June

Audi today announced it sold more vehicles in June 2012 than in any month since entering the U.S. market 42 years ago.

The new all-time monthly U.S. sales record of 12,664 vehicles sold in June beat the prior record of 12,655 vehicles sold in December 2011. June 2012 sales increased 26% over June 2011. The just concluded month also marks the 18th consecutive monthly sales record for the brand, as well as the highest sales numbers registered for the first half of any year at 65,158 in the January to June period. Year-to-date 2012 sales through June represented a 16.5% gain.

Audi executives expressed confidence that sales for all of 2012 will set a new annual record, topping the 117,561 sales mark set last year.

“Our long-term strategy has been to relentlessly achieve realistic levels of sales based on the most advanced lineup in the luxury car market,” said Mark Del Rosso, Chief Operating Officer, Audi of America. “The best is yet to come for this year as new, or substantially updated, models representing about 60% of our sales volume are only now reaching dealerships in the U.S.”

Sales of Audi premium category vehicles (A8, A7, A6, and Q7) jumped 51% YTD and represented 29.1% of total June sales. Overall, sales improvements shown by Audi in the top tiers of the luxury sector accounted for 40% of the Audi June gain.

June sales of the new technologically advanced Audi A6 ranked as the best month ever for the sedan with a 226.8% sales increase for the month and a 140% increase year-to-date. Audi luxury SUV performance was led by an increase in sales of the Audi Q5, with a 60.7% jump in June, and a 21.6% year-to-date gain. The Audi A3 also performed favorably with an increase of 45.5% for the month.

Highlights

  • June 2012 sets the all-time single month sales record in Audi of America history; the 18th consecutive month of unprecedented sales and the all-time YTD record total sales for the January through June period.
  • Audi A6 sales soared 226.8% compared to June 2011; YTD sales grew 140% compared to previous period.
  • Audi A7 YTD sales increased 113.3%, compared to previous period.
  • Sales of Audi Q5 jumped 60.7% compared to June 2011; YTD sales up 21.6% compared to previous period.
  • Audi A3 sales remained strong with an increase of 45.5%, compared to June 2011.
  • Sales of Audi TDI models remained strong with clean diesel models making up 64.8 percent of overall Audi A3 models (402 June sales) and 37.1 percent of overall Audi Q7 sales (255 June sales).
  • For the record-setting month of June 2012, four Audi models recorded year-over-year sales increases of 20% or more, including the Audi A3, the Audi A6, the Audi A8, and the Audi Q5 models.
  • Audi Certified pre-owned sales remained strong, despite the reduced inventory of available models for the program. As a result, 2012 year-to-date Audi CPO sales of 18,339 were 2.7 percent below the record pace set in in the first half of 2011.

Congratulations to Bill on this 5-star review!

Dealer_rater

"I had a very pleasant experience at Willow Grove Audi. My salesperson was Bill Share. Bill was very courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Once he was presented with what I was looking (new 2012 A6) for he went out of his way to find the car to my exact specifications. I did not feel pressured in anyway to accept anything less than what I wanted. I appreciate Bill's helpfulness and concern for my needs. His assistant Jeff was nice as well. Will return again when making my next purchase."

This first time Audi owner had a great experience with us!

Cars

"I purchase more cars than I should. This was a more pleasant experience than usual. My sales person was sincere and easy to talk to. He knew the cars and understood what I was looking for. He also didn't talk just to hear himself speak, as I have found many car salesman do. Jinal took the time to explain the options in the car at delivery time. I consider myself tech savvy, but I still needed to be shown some functions twice. Jinal never lost his patience with me. This is my first Audi purchase and so far the dealership has been better than the others. It was worth driving the extra 15 minutes down 611 from the other Audi dealership to Willow Grove." - Customer

Tip of the Day: Use AC sparingly to save money on gas

Dog_in_car

Roll down your car's windows and let in the summer breeze. Using the gas-hogging air conditioning as sparingly as possible will give your car's fuel economy a real boost. Air conditioning can drag down your car's fuel economy by 10 percent to 20 percent.

On days when air conditioning is a must, first try cooling your car the old fashioned way -- rolling down the windows, opening the vents, peeling back the sunroof. You'd be amazed how much hot air you can clear out of your car just by opening up for awhile.

Flipping on the air conditioning full blast as soon as you hop into a hot car is a big waste of gas and money.

Keep in mind, though, that at highway speeds, modern cars are more fuel efficient with the air conditioning on than with the air off and windows down.

Audi's R8 e-tron has set the world record for vehicles with electric drive systems at the toughtest test track in the world.

Post

The future of electric mobility at Audi is highly dynamic: The R8 e-tron has set a world record for a production vehicle with an electric drive system on the Nürburgring Nordschleife – the toughest test track in the world. Racing driver Markus Winkelhock piloted the high-performance, all-electric-drive sports car around the demanding 20.8-kilometer (12.92-mile) track in 8:09.099 minutes. With this Audi has achieved yet another milestone in its history, following overall wins at the 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and Le Mans.

“The R8 e-tron has given a magnificent demonstration of its potential on the toughest race track in the world,” said Michael Dick, AUDI AG Board Member for Technical Development. Dick, who completed a fast lap himself in the R8 e-tron, added: “The record-setting drive confirmed that we are on the right track. To us, electric mobility has never been about sacrifice, but rather is about emotion, sportiness and driving pleasure.”

A comparison with the current record lap driven by a combustion engined production car shows just how impressive the 8:09.099-minute time really is. The record time of 7:11.57 minutes was achieved with a Gumpert Apollo Sport, which is powered by a 515 kW (700 hp) Audi V8 gasoline engine.

The drive system of the Audi R8 e-tron that Markus Winkelhock drove to the world record corresponds in every detail with that of the production model that will come on the market at the end of the year. Both of the car’s electric motors generate an output of 280 kW and 820 Nm of torque; more than 4,900 Nm (3,614.05 lb-ft) are distributed to the rear wheels nearly from a standing start.

The Audi R8 e-tron accelerates from zero to 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 4.6 seconds. Its top speed is normally limited to 200 km/h (124.27 mph); 250 km/h (155.34 mph) was approved for the record-setting lap.

The R8 e-tron’s rechargeable lithium-ion battery stores 49 KWh of energy – enough for a distance of about 215 kilometers (133.59 miles). Its “T” shape allows it to be installed in the center tunnel and in the area between the passenger compartment and the rear axle. It is charged by energy recovery during coasting and braking. The ultralight car body of the Audi R8 e-tron is made primarily of aluminum, along with CFRP components; this is a main reason why the high-performance sports car weighs just 1,780 kilograms (3,924.23 lb), despite the large battery.

In order to further underscore the production-relevance of the R8 e-tron and the capability of its drive technology, Audi has set another record on the Nordschleife in addition to the single lap record time. Immediately afterwards, Markus Winkelhock drove two fast laps in one go in a second R8 e-tron that was limited to 200 km/h (124.27 mph). At 8:30.873 and 8:26.096 minutes, both laps were well under the important nine-minute threshold.

“The record drives were a fantastic experience for me,” said Markus Winkelhock. The 32-year-old, who lives near Stuttgart, has a high standard for comparison – the Audi R8 LMS ultra, in which he, along with Marc Basseng, Christopher Haase and Frank Stippler, won the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring a few weeks ago.

“Of course, the R8 e-tron is a production car, not a racing car with the assistance of aerodynamics,” Winkelhock emphasized. “But with its low center of gravity and rear biased weight distribution, it brings with it a lot of sporty qualities. The torque with which the electric motors propel the car uphill beats everything that I know – even if they make hardly any noise in the process, which at the start was really a completely new experience for me. In places where I really need traction, the torque vectoring – the displacement of the torque between the powered wheels – really helps me.”

Michael Dick proudly summed up events after the record-setting drive at the Nürburgring. “Within just a few weeks we’ve taken on some big challenges and in the process we’ve shown that we are at the forefront with all of our drive concepts,” he said, adding:“We won the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in May in the Audi R8 LMS ultra with a ten-cylinder engine.

In mid-June we triumphed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Audi R18 e-tron quattro – the first overall victory for a hybrid-electric vehicle in the toughest race in the world. And now we’ve set another record with the all-electric-drive R8 e-tron on the most demanding track there is.”

Tip of the day: Blast floor mats with a hose

When washing your car, drag out the rubber or carpet floor mats and blast them with the hose. This will dislodge dirt particles that, if allowed to build up, will grind holes in your mats. Let the mats dry thoroughly in the sun before reinstalling them.

Tip of the Day: Only use washer fluid

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE

Wash

Don’t add water to the windshield washer reservoir. It won’t clean as well as washer fluid, and it may freeze in cold weather and damage the system. Don’t try to run your windshield washer system once you suspect there’s no more fluid in the tank, or you may damage the washer fluid pump.

"Jinal Patel at Audi Willow Grove helped me to find the Audi A4 that I was looking for. Overall it was a smooth transaction and Jinal took care of some small things outstanding / missing.  I think I got my Audi A4 2006 for the best price available compared to any other dealership I contacted in NJ, PA, DC, or OH.  My financing was already secured through my bank so did not use their finance department."
